The Kooi Family: Littleton Family Portraits

Two summers ago we got to photograph the Kooi Family and had the best time! Since that summer their family has grown and now they have three of the cutest and funniest kids- talk about loads of personality! We headed over to the gorgeous fields near South Platte Park and couldn’t believe our luck, NO mosquitos! Well at least until we actually stepped foot into the fields… I was a walking mine field after this session but it was worth it! The kids are all so funny and really liked “posing” for the camera. Kendall was hilarious with her hillbilly pose with the grass in her mouth and I found a cute little lady bug that Camryn held. Their little man Dylan was so cute and was making some hilarious little faces probably due to the fact that they found out after the session that he was cutting a tooth at the time but you’d never know based on how well he did! Here’s some of our favorites from the day including one quick shot we got right during the most beautiful sunset.

The Gates Family: Family Portraits in the Highlands Ranch BackCountry

What a perfect end to our 2014 family sessions! We had such a great time getting to take pictures of the Gates family up in the BackCountry of Highlands Ranch the first weekend in November. I’ve known Brandon all the way back to elementary school and it was so nice getting to see him again and meet his beautiful wife, their two adorable kiddos, and the awesome mustache he’s currently sporting  🙂  It’s always fun getting to do something a little different so we enjoyed getting to incorporate some indoor photos into our typical outdoor session. They have a gorgeous house in the BackCountry that made the perfect backdrop for half our session and then we headed up the way to finish the pictures outside with some leaves, mountains, and the scrub oak that looks so cool in the winter. We had the best time with them and I LOVE how the pictures turned out. We even got some fun ones of Max and Macey jumping on the trampoline in their backyard! Here’s some of our favorites from the day- had the hardest time not sharing more!

The Fox Family: Daniels Park Family Portraits

Earlier in the year you may recall we photographed Matt & Kristie while she was pregnant for a couple’s maternity session. Well, their little man entered the world about 6 months ago now and this time we had the chance to photograph the three of them- Matt, Kristie and baby Ethan. He’s adorable!!! We’ve know this awesome couple for a few years now after photographing their wedding and their not just clients but friends. They recently started a fellowship prayer group that we were able to join and are so glad to have them in our lives! Anyway, the first week of November on the first day of the time change we met up at Daniels Park for pictures. I always forget just how fast the sun sets this time of year and especially that first day when we lose an hour of light in the evening. We actually got some pretty awesome backlit images as the sun was going down but it soon got really cold so we cut the session short and headed back to the house for just a few photos of Ethan while we had a little bit of daylight left. We’ll be taking a few more pics since our session got cut short but I loved these ones we got that day. Everyone was troopers with that cold air coming in especially Kristie in a dress! (Michelle was freezing even with gloves and a jacket). Here’s some of my favorites- stay tuned for the rest!

The Kitchens Family: Highlands Ranch Family Pictures

While there may be a few kids who are fairly neutral when it comes to having their picture taken most kids fall into one of two categories- those who hate it and those who could smile all day long posing for the camera. Our little Goddaughter Berlin is definitely the latter. We’ve known the Kitchens family since I started my current “day job” several years back and have been great friends ever since. They moved to Colorado from Texas back then but unfortunately only stayed for a little while before moving back to their home state. We miss having them here but LOVE getting to spend time with them every time they visit Colorado. It’s been amazing to watch their daughter Berlin grow- from a little miracle baby born just a bit over 2 lbs to now a 3 year old full of energy with the biggest smile ever! Back in October they came out to visit for a family vacation and while this wasn’t a planned photo shoot we decided since it was such nice weather that we’d love to take some family pictures for them. I have to smile every time I see that big grin on Berlin’s face. We just love this family and are so blessed to have them in our lives. Love you guys!!

Mooney Family Portraits: Littleton, Colorado

We’ve known the Mooney family since the beginning of 2005 when I started my “day job” working with David. In 2006 we had the pleasure of photographing their wedding (with film!) and we’ve had the chance to watch their family grow over the years first with Ethan and then with Makayla (we absolutely adore these kids). We’re very blessed to have this wonderful family in our lives and love getting to photograph them every chance we get. This year we waited until the fall for their family portraits and as anyone living in Colorado can agree this was one of the most beautiful fall’s we’ve had in I can’t remember how long! Of course it had to end with a nice foot of snow to cover what was left of all the seasonal colors but we took these photos a few days before that happened. I think these have to be my favorites we’ve ever taken for the Mooney’s. We met near the South Platte Reservoir for their session the last week of October. We’d been to that location two other times but never this time of year. All the yellows in the trees made the perfect fall backdrop for their pictures. We had such a good time and just love these guys! We could have been out all day taking pictures for them- here’s a glimpse into our day.

Nami + John: Family Portraits at Cherry Creek North

It’s crazy how fast kids grow! Back in January we met Nami & John, Nami’s mother, and their two adorable little boys, Mason & Tyler at their home for baby pictures of little Mason. Now little Mason is running around everywhere keeping his parents on their feet chasing after him. We were so excited to meet up with this sweet family again for their family pictures at Cherry Creek North. I LOVE photographing at Cherry Creek North and for a family session it was even better. Most of the time we tend to stick to more “Colorado” type locations for family pictures so it’s fun when people choose an area that’s a little different than the norm. Fortunately the weather cooperated right through the end of the month so we had perfect weather for their session right before the snow came in. We had a wonderful time working with all of them and of course what fall session would be complete without letting the kids play in the leaves? Here’s some of our favorites from the day from this beautiful family. Thanks guys for the fun afternoon!

Wessler Family at Wash Park

If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time this family is probably going to look a bit familiar. We’ve known the Wessler family for several years now and have photographed all three children’s weddings starting with Erin + John’s back in 2006, Stephanie + David’s back in 2007 and then Kari + Sterling’s back in 2009. Now they have three more to add to the family with the youngest addition just a couple months old! We even got the cutest photo of the three little ones together- Logan with his newborn sister Emma and little cousin Sophie. It’s so fun watching families grow over the years and especially this one. We had a great time that afternoon at Wash Park. After all this crazy weather we’ve been having it was nice to have a day without the rain and apparently a lot of other folks thought the same as the park was definitely packed that day. Here’s just a few of my favorite images from our shoot. And of course what would a Wessler family picture be without the one of the guys posing for the best photo ever! Thank you to the entire Wessler clan- it was so good seeing everybody!
