Daniels Park Engagement Portraits: Christy + Matt

One of the reasons we always include an engagement session with every wedding is because it’s a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera and gives the couple a chance to see how we work before the big day. Having a camera follow you around all day can be a little intimidating for almost anyone- at least us NORMAL people (celebrities excluded). So, the engagement session is perfect practice. Christy & Matt weren’t too sure about this whole photo idea but their friend Michelle who also came along for the shoot (she’s like a 2nd mom to Christy) convinced them that one day they’ll look back and be glad they captured such an important time in their lives. I’m so glad she convinced them because they really are a beautiful couple and we got some amazing images of the two of them! Since Matt had to catch a flight back home later that evening we opted for a location that was closer and chose one of my favorite spots- Daniels Park. I always forget what a gorgeous view it is up there. We had a wonderful time photographing them that day and can’t wait for their wedding in September. A big thank you to Cydney of Stiletto Events for recommending us and excited to get to see what you have in store for planning their big day!!

Downtown Golden Engagements: Jess + Brenden

Last weekend we met up with Jess and Brenden in Downtown Golden for their engagement session. We opted to start the pictures as late as possible that evening due to the heat and even then it was still around 100 degrees by the time we finished at sunset! They were such troopers though and we were able to get some amazing pictures. Brenden is one of my brother’s really good friends and was a groomsmen in his wedding this past fall- now it’s Brenden’s turn and he and Jess are getting married this September. We had such a great time with these two! They were so natural in front of the camera and have such chemistry together that our session ran a little longer than normal because I just couldn’t stop taking pictures- oops:-) Although in the end I’m glad we stayed out a little longer than planned which allowed us to get some awesome pictures of the beautiful sunset! We had a tough time deciding which photos to pick from there were so many we liked but here’s a few that we just had to share. This first picture was taken against a building that always reminds me of a setting you’d find in Mexico- I LOVE it!

Robynn + Kyle: Red Rocks Engagement Session

Wow I guess it’s been quite a while since my last post! A LOT has happened in the last few months including selling our house and moving last month. I have a ton of things to blog from the end of last year but here’s something new from our engagement session with Robynn & Kyle last weekend. It’s nice to get back into photographing after a little break during the holidays and cold weather and we couldn’t have started off the year any better. We actually met Robynn a few years back when she was a bridesmaid in Heather & Bill’s wedding and now we get the pleasure of working with her and Kyle. We had so much fun with the two of them up at Red Rocks. Yes we had some wind to contend with but they live in Wyoming so compared to that wind this was just a mild breeze:-) It was a beautiful day though- couldn’t ask for better weather in March. Robynn & Kyle have so much chemistry. They definitely know how to make each other laugh and can have fun together so this session was so easy and fun that we had a hard time narrowing down which ones to show. Here’s just a few from the day. Can’t wait until their wedding this summer!

Cydney + Kiel: Golden Colorado Engagement Photography

This post has been in the works for over 20 some odd years! I’ve known Cydney before the internet and long before Facebook and now all these years later I can’t believe I’m photographing her wedding and her engagement photos! Cydney and I were next door neighbors as kids and friends for many years and I’m so excited that she has found Kiel to share her life with. Kiel really knows how to make Cydney laugh and makes her happy which you can’t ask for more. We met up with the two of them in Golden and being a wedding planner, Cydney had plenty of ideas for props to bring along for the shoot. We LOVE it when people want to incorporate something fun into the engagement session and balloons, bikes, and super cute puppies are always welcome:-)Got to give a little shout out to Cydney’s wedding planning company Stiletto Events. So many people think that hiring a wedding planner just adds to the cost of planning a wedding but a good planner not only can help keep costs down by focusing on the important things (ie. wedding photography) and reducing or cutting out needless expenses but they can also help keep your sanity when trying to plan one of the biggest days of your life! Make sure to check out Stiletto Events– Cydney is awesome!! Anyways, we had a great time in Golden- lots of laughs, a few mosquito bites, and some beautiful pictures! Here’s just a few we’re excited to share with you.

Kristin + John: Engagement Session Downtown Denver

In case I haven’t mentioned it in a few days- yep we have some awesome couples this year! I love it when people want to do something different so when Kristin & John said they were up for some night pictures for their engagement session we were very excited. Of course we did want to get in some photos with nice daylight as well- which I’m so glad we did because shortly before sunset we had that beautiful warm light through the tall grass that made for some gorgeous pictures! Kristin & John found us while researching for their wedding this September at the Inverness but it was while John was at the dentist that they confirmed they did want to meet with us. Kristin & John both go to the same dentist Michelle has been seeing since she was in middle school (Dr John C. Craiger– he’s awesome)- another one of those moments when you realize what a small world this is! Anyway, after meeting with them we were so excited to work with them and so far we’ve had a blast! We met up at City of Cuernavaca Park in Denver for some photos with their two doggies- even got a few individual shots of the two cuties:-)Later after the sunset we headed out for a few more shots over the Millennium Bridge and near Union Station. It was a little longer of a night for everyone but Kristin & John were such sports and we have some great images as a result. This was a tough one to pick my favorites from but here they are. Can’t wait to put together their engagement guestbook with these images!

Kristin + John: Sneak Peek into our Night Shoot

Here’s a quick sneak peek into the second half of our engagement session with Kristin & John this past weekend. We stayed out late and got some awesome night shots! Here’s one of my favorite shots that night.
