Jess + Brenden: Wedding at The Curtis

We couldn’t have ended our 2012 wedding season any better! Our last wedding of the year was with Jess & Brenden at The Curtis Hotel the final weekend of September. This year we photographed at several places that displayed the beautiful Colorado outdoors (which I LOVE) but it was nice to change things up this time around and use some of the cool urban architecture found in Denver. Their wedding was a little later in the evening and to make it easier on their guests they chose to see each other before the ceremony for most of the pictures. I’m so glad they did too because it gave us a lot of time to get some great photos for the two of them. I love getting to do “first look” sessions with the couple to capture their reaction of seeing each other for the first time. Jess and Brenden are such a laid-back couple and so easy to photograph and we couldn’t have asked for a better end to the year than with these guys. I have to say we were very impressed as well with The Curtis Hotel. It’s amazing how much lighting can change the entire atmosphere of a room and the reception lighting was gorgeous! It made for some of my favorite reception photos ever. And since my brother is a friend of Brenden’s and was an usher in the wedding I just had to include a few of him doing his thing on the dance floor being his usual goofy self. Here’s some of our favorite images from their wedding. Congrats Jess & Brenden and thank you for allowing us to capture this day for you!

Kristin + John: Inverness Wedding Photographer

Two weeks ago Michelle and I had the pleasure of photographing Kristin + John’s wedding at the Inverness Hotel here in the DTC. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day- not too hot or cold and a nice mix of a little sunshine with a few clouds. It was one of those days that helps you remember why living in Colorado is so awesome! Kristin and John chose to see each other before the ceremony for a first look session. We love doing these since it allows us more time with the couple and it seems like it always helps calm any nerves before walking down the aisle. I love the look on Kristin’s face right before John turned around to see her! Following the ceremony we took a few more photos of the two of them before they headed off to the reception and I LOVE the ones of them standing behind the tree! We had so much fun working with these two and are so happy they found us. We got some hilarious pictures during the reception when everybody starting to let loose. At one point I decided to utilize the video feature on my camera since a photo just couldn’t quite capture the moment. There always seems to be someone at a wedding that just captures your attention and this little guy was definitely it that evening- he was a riot to watch! Check him out on the video link below. We had a difficult time narrowing down which pictures to show from there wedding but here they are- enjoy!!

Caity + Drew: Denver Wedding Photographer

There are some people you meet and you instantly know you’re going to like them. When we were first approached by Caity via email we set up a time to meet with her mom, Ann, since Caity was out of state finishing school. We knew from the moment we met Ann that if Caity was anything like her mom and anything like the way Ann described her that we were going to enjoy working with them. Not only did we have so much fun with the two of them for their engagement session but when the wedding day arrived we couldn’t have been surrounded by a better group of family and friends. There is something about Caity & Drew that reminds Michelle and I of us when we got married. Perhaps it’s that they are young like we were or maybe just how you can see how much they love one another just by the way they look at each other with knowing glances. It definitely made me remember back to our own wedding day watching these two get married especially when the limo broke down at the guys’ place before the wedding (it was HOT out and it overheated)- something that also happened on our wedding day and has yet to happen until this wedding. Fortunately, their limo company was right on top of it and got everyone to the church long before the wedding without a hitch and Caity & Drew are such an easy going couple that they didn’t let it bother them in the least. They were married at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora and then held their reception at the Ritchie Center at the University of Denver. During the reception they set up a fog machine for their first dance and I LOVE the photos we got from it- totally recommend that by the way šŸ˜‰ We have a ton of amazing pictures but here are just a few from their story. Thank you Caity & Drew for allowing us to capture such an important day in your lives- God Bless!!

Katie + Felix: Wedding at Mt Vernon Event Center

Michelle and I had been looking forward to Katie + Felix’s wedding for a long time! We first met the two of them about a year and half prior to their wedding and knew instantly that we wanted to work with them. Katie is a friend of my brother’s from college and for anyone who knows me and my goofy personality, well that’s my brother too. And, Katie has the awesome sense of humor that when you joke around with her she’ll just give it right back and it’s easy to see why her and my brother are friends. Katie and Felix and so much fun to be around and getting to work with couple’s like them is what makes my job never feel like work. They were married on June 25th at Mt Vernon Event Center in Golden. John Payne of John Payne Studios came along for the day to work alongside Michelle and I and made the day even better- he’s such a great guy and is actually the other talented photographer behind Her Life Magazine! I have to say the best part of the day was during the reception when they took out boxes of hats and masks shipped all the way from Peru (where Felix’s family is from) for all the guests to wear- almost all of the 200+ guests were out on the dance floor having a blast! We were so happy to be a part of this great celebration for Katie & Felix- we wish you two all the best!

Kristin + John: Engagement Session Downtown Denver

In case I haven’t mentioned it in a few days- yep we have some awesome couples this year! I love it when people want to do something different so when Kristin & John said they were up for some night pictures for their engagement session we were very excited. Of course we did want to get in some photos with nice daylight as well- which I’m so glad we did because shortly before sunset we had that beautiful warm light through the tall grass that made for some gorgeous pictures! Kristin & John found us while researching for their wedding this September at the Inverness but it was while John was at the dentist that they confirmed they did want to meet with us. Kristin & John both go to the same dentist Michelle has been seeing since she was in middle school (Dr John C. Craiger– he’s awesome)- another one of those moments when you realize what a small world this is! Anyway, after meeting with them we were so excited to work with them and so far we’ve had a blast! We met up at City of Cuernavaca Park in Denver for some photos with their two doggies- even got a few individual shots of the two cuties:-)Later after the sunset we headed out for a few more shots over the Millennium Bridge and near Union Station. It was a little longer of a night for everyone but Kristin & John were such sports and we have some great images as a result. This was a tough one to pick my favorites from but here they are. Can’t wait to put together their engagement guestbook with these images!
