Christy + Matt: Wedding in Castle Pines

With the unofficial end of summer over Labor Day weekend, it’s the start of a busy fall season with lots of sessions to capture what I believe to be the most beautiful time of the year in Colorado. The fall season kicked off with Christy & Matt’s wedding the first Saturday of September. We have to send a big THANK YOU to Cydney from Stiletto Events for bringing us this cute couple and to Shelly & Dan who hosted the wedding on their gorgeous property in Castle Pines. It was also nice to have such a short drive from our new house to the wedding that day! Cydney did a fabulous job both in planning and with all the decorations for the wedding (no wonder she just earned the honor of 1st Place from the Denver’s A-List this year). I had to include a few extra pictures to share the details that went into the day. They held the ceremony shortly before sunset so immediately after we took the family portraits we caught the last of the sun setting behind the mountains and got the most gorgeous light!! I just love the images we got of Christy & Matt in the sunset. During the reception they opted to go without a tent and instead filled the property with little lights from the ground to the trees which created a very romantic atmosphere that was a lot of fun to photograph. We had a great time and wish Christy & Matt the best. Here’s some of our favorites- enjoy!

Cydney + Kiel: Wedding at The Manor House

So this post is going to be a bit longer than usual. For one I’ve known Cydney since we were in elementary school and so I couldn’t have been more thrilled to capture this day for her and Kiel. Secondly, this was the last wedding of the year and we had the most beautiful fall day, a beautiful location, and a beautiful couple to photograph.  Lastly, well Cydney is a wedding planner so this wedding had so many gorgeous details that I had to share Cydney’s talents with future brides and can’t stress enough how much we recommend hiring Cydney! Cydney & Kiel were married last Saturday at The Manor House in Ken Caryl Ranch. The Manor House is one of my favorite locations to photograph for obvious reasons. It’s a beautiful location! We were so fortunate to have such awesome weather the day of the wedding. Besides a little wind (okay a LOT of wind) the weather was perfect for the end of October. Despite the wind the girl’s hair stayed in place all day- big props to Samantha Koch! Cydney & Kiel opted to see each other before the wedding for a “first look” session which provided us with the just the right amount of time to get plenty of pictures in the pre sunset warm light. We took so many amazing pictures it was almost impossible to narrow down which ones to post! And we had the coolest bridal party ever (and cutest groomsdog) which just added to more awesomeness! I could go on and on about all the details of their wedding but I’ll just let the pictures do the talking. We couldn’t be happier for Cydney & Kiel- thanks guys for trusting us to capture this wonderful day for you!

Caity + Drew: Denver Wedding Photographer

There are some people you meet and you instantly know you’re going to like them. When we were first approached by Caity via email we set up a time to meet with her mom, Ann, since Caity was out of state finishing school. We knew from the moment we met Ann that if Caity was anything like her mom and anything like the way Ann described her that we were going to enjoy working with them. Not only did we have so much fun with the two of them for their engagement session but when the wedding day arrived we couldn’t have been surrounded by a better group of family and friends. There is something about Caity & Drew that reminds Michelle and I of us when we got married. Perhaps it’s that they are young like we were or maybe just how you can see how much they love one another just by the way they look at each other with knowing glances. It definitely made me remember back to our own wedding day watching these two get married especially when the limo broke down at the guys’ place before the wedding (it was HOT out and it overheated)- something that also happened on our wedding day and has yet to happen until this wedding. Fortunately, their limo company was right on top of it and got everyone to the church long before the wedding without a hitch and Caity & Drew are such an easy going couple that they didn’t let it bother them in the least. They were married at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora and then held their reception at the Ritchie Center at the University of Denver. During the reception they set up a fog machine for their first dance and I LOVE the photos we got from it- totally recommend that by the way 😉 We have a ton of amazing pictures but here are just a few from their story. Thank you Caity & Drew for allowing us to capture such an important day in your lives- God Bless!!

Katie + Felix: Wedding at Mt Vernon Event Center

Michelle and I had been looking forward to Katie + Felix’s wedding for a long time! We first met the two of them about a year and half prior to their wedding and knew instantly that we wanted to work with them. Katie is a friend of my brother’s from college and for anyone who knows me and my goofy personality, well that’s my brother too. And, Katie has the awesome sense of humor that when you joke around with her she’ll just give it right back and it’s easy to see why her and my brother are friends. Katie and Felix and so much fun to be around and getting to work with couple’s like them is what makes my job never feel like work. They were married on June 25th at Mt Vernon Event Center in Golden. John Payne of John Payne Studios came along for the day to work alongside Michelle and I and made the day even better- he’s such a great guy and is actually the other talented photographer behind Her Life Magazine! I have to say the best part of the day was during the reception when they took out boxes of hats and masks shipped all the way from Peru (where Felix’s family is from) for all the guests to wear- almost all of the 200+ guests were out on the dance floor having a blast! We were so happy to be a part of this great celebration for Katie & Felix- we wish you two all the best!

Traci + Jeff: Colorado Fall Wedding

The 2010 wedding season started off great and couldn’t have had a better ending! Traci & Jeff’s fall wedding was a perfect way to end our year. Although it was a bit windy, the weather was gorgeous for the middle of October. They held their ceremony at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora. Michelle actually lived just up the street from the church when she was a kid so it was cool to get to photograph there all these years later. It is such a beautiful church and it’s so rare that you get that kind of beautiful light for photos inside a church! Following the ceremony we headed to the Courtyard in Cherry Creek where the views from the ballroom on the top floor are just amazing! We could even see the wildfires burning out near Chatfield that day. We had so much fun at this wedding- even got to dance to Michelle and I’s song during the reception- something we haven’t done in quite a while. Traci & Jeff are such genuine nice people and we were amazed at how kind their family & friends were as well. It’s people like them that make our job such a joy! Thank you guys for allowing us to photograph this important day in your lives. We also want to say a big thank you to Christina & Ryan, whose wedding we photographed back on 07/07/07, for sending Traci & Jeff our way- thanks guys!

Stacey + Tim: Wedding at the Hyatt Regency DTC

Fall is one of my favorite seasons to photograph- nothing can compare to the colors of this season. And it seems that other people must feel the same way since each year the fall seems to be more and more popular for weddings with this year being no exception. Our first wedding in October was held at the Hyatt Regency DTC with Stacey & Tim. Between the couple, the colors, the details, and the location their wedding is definitely up there on my list of all time favorites. We met Stacey & Tim through our friends Kristie & Matt– whose wedding we photographed last summer… or so we thought. Turns out we actually met Tim 2 years prior when he was a groomsmen for Erin & Donald’s wedding all the way back in July of 2007! A fact that neither Tim nor Michelle and I realized until their wedding day when we were pleasantly surprised by Erin & Donald’s attendance. Stacey & Tim have been such a pleasure to work with. While you may have seen pictures of a bride with her dog before, they are typically with the bride holding the end of a very long leash and the dog as far away from her dress as possible. Not Stacey:-)Her one request for her wedding day was to have a picture holding her dog Oscar.  Take one look at him and you’ll see why- he’s adorable (Note: no wedding dress was harmed in taking these photos). During the reception, Stacey & Tim’s DJ provided a spotlight for their toasts, first dance etc. If there is one thing you should do for your reception, this is it! I could have photographed with that light all night! This post could have gone on for miles but we finally narrowed down just a few of our favorites for now so enjoy!

Robyn + Chuck: Hudson Gardens Wedding

Robyn & Chuck originally planned on having an intimate wedding ceremony while taking a cruise to Italy. However, through a little convincing from Chuck’s daughter, Christina, Robyn & Chuck decided that in addition to their cruise that they’d plan something “small” for family & friends to witness here in Colorado. Well, it didn’t exactly turn out to be a “small” event as all of Robyn’s family traveled in to take part in their celebration- it had been over 10 years since the last time they were all together. They held the wedding at Hudson Gardens here in Littleton. Having past by Hudson Gardens all these years I’ve always wanted to photograph there and we finally got the chance. They held the ceremony in the Rose Garden in honor of Robyn’s grandmother, Rose. It’s really a beautiful location! Following the ceremony we headed to Aurora to the Wheatlands Community Center for the reception. We had a great time getting to know Robyn & Chuck and their daughters, Christina & Jade. Thank you guys so much for allowing us to capture your big day. We wish you all the best- God Bless!
