Mandy + Jack: Wedding at Castle Cliff Estate

We’re always a little partial to weddings in May- partly because it’s also the month we chose to say “I do” 11 years ago and partly because it’s before the hot summer temps get rid of the beautiful green that’s so prevalent in the spring. While spring has had a bit of a rocky start including a fluke snow storm mid month, the first weekend in May was a beautiful one for Mandy & Jack’s wedding at Castle Cliff Estate. If there is one word to describe their wedding it would be details! Lots and lots of details! Everything from vintage sofas and tables, to the church pews brought out for the ceremony, to the bride’s not 1 but 2 dresses. They even had two of their pups join in on the wedding day 🙂 Their wedding was a photographer’s dream and we couldn’t have asked for a better couple! We absolutely loved getting to work with both Mandy & Jack and their incredibly sweet family & friends. Thank you Cydney from Stiletto Events for the recommendation and for doing such a beautiful job putting everything together. Here’s some of our favorites from the rehearsal and wedding day. It was so much fun getting to use the vintage furniture- the bridal party on the sofa is one of my favorite bridal party shots ever! Mandy & Jack congrats and thank you for trusting us to capture such an important day in your lives- God Bless!

Ashlyn + Tyler Winter Park Wedding: The Lodge at Sunspot

Labor Day weekend marked the end of our 2013 wedding season with Ashlyn + Tyler’s wedding in Winter Park. Our season ended much like  it began- with a destination wedding. Yes the wedding was right here in Colorado, but for the couple and their guests it was a little ways to get here. Ashlyn + Tyler are Texas natives and met while on a ski/snowboard trip here so when it came to planning their big day, the Colorado mountains were the perfect choice. Of course in typical Colorado fashion- particularly Colorado MOUNTAIN fashion- the weather decided to have a bit of an identity crisis the day of the wedding. It rained on and off most of the day but I’m so glad they agreed to keep the ceremony outdoors using the umbrellas for their guests. Fortunately the rain did stop shortly after they said “I do” and we were able to get some beautiful pictures outside with the mountain backdrop. Even though they were freezing they were such great sports and pushed through chattering teeth and all 🙂 They opted to do a first look before the ceremony and the emotion in that moment could be felt all the way to the other side of the camera. We can’t thank Cydney from Stiletto Events enough for recommending them our way and like usual she outdid herself with all the gorgeous details and planning that went into their wedding. Congrats Ashlyn + Tyler and thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day!!

Aubrey + Cameron: Wedding at Castle Cliff Estate

What I love most about running a photography business is the people we’ve met over the years. Folks that either because of our vocations, age differences or any number of other reasons, we never would have met otherwise. To say that Aubrey & Cameron are an amazing couple would be a huge understatement. From the moment we were introduced we knew we were going to LOVE working with these guys. Of course they are one of the most adorable couples you could ever meet but on top of that they are super sweet just like all their family and friends! They were married two weeks ago at a new venue in Sedalia- Castle Cliff Estate. The location is absolutely gorgeous! And if the site itself wasn’t pretty enough the amazing and talented Cydney Johnson of Stiletto Events and Oakes Fields Florist made it even more beautiful with all the details that went into their wedding. Did I mention details?!? Aubrey’s dad MADE the arbor they stood under for the ceremony and that custom cake topper from Kelley Kakes– I want to get married again just to have one made for us 🙂 You might remember that these are the two who mountain bike & dirt bike- both of which are part of my life’s obsession. Of course when they mentioned they had custom dirt bike jerseys for all the groomsmen I was only too happy to add that to the day’s photos. Oh and I cannot forget to mention the coolest get away car ever- a Lamborghini! It was a surprise from Aubrey and the family and Cameron’s reaction was priceless! I could go on and on and on about this wedding but there’s way too many pictures to share so pull up a chair because this post is going to be long 🙂 Congrats Aubrey + Cameron and may God Bless your marriage!!!! We are so happy you chose us to capture this day for you!

Meghan + Kellen: Grant-Humphreys Mansion Wedding

We’ve had a busy couple of weeks of sessions and a wedding so now catching up on all the editing! Meghan & Kellen were married last Wednesday on July 3rd at the Grant-Humphreys Mansion in Denver. It was a beautiful wedding and Grant-Humphreys is an incredible venue. They had a late ceremony just before sunset so they opted for a “first look” session beforehand and we were able to get all the pictures done allowing them to just enjoy the rest of the night after they said “I do”. We LOVE getting to do these sessions and it worked out perfect for Meghan & Kellen since the cloud cover came in right before sunset and we would have missed out on all the gorgeous shots we got of the two of them and their bridal party in the sunlight! I don’t think we could have asked for better weather in July- after last year’s summer we were afraid it was going to be over 100 degrees but fortunately we weren’t even close. We had so much fun photographing their day and  Meghan even sang for Kellen during their reception (she has an A-MAZING voice!) Of course I can’t forget to mention the live band they had at their reception the Delta Sonics. Live bands are probably one of my favorite things at weddings and these guys are so talented- if you are considering a band and like the Blues totally check these guys out! Thanks Meghan & Kellen for letting us capture your special today- congrats guys!!

Wedding at the Highlands Ranch Mansion: Katie + Tyler

I basically grew up in Highlands Ranch so I probably passed by the Highlands Ranch Mansion more times than I can count over the years. After starting our business it was a location that I hoped one day we’d get to photograph.  Which meant we was really excited to learn that Katie & Tyler were getting married there. I’ve known Katie forever and just a few months back Michelle and I had the pleasure of photographing her brother and sister-in-laws wedding downtown (Brenden & Jess). Katie & Tyler had a little boy the end of last year and oh my gosh is he ADORABLE! While he was sleeping for most picture opportunities we did get a couple of Brent with Katie before the ceremony and a quick one of the three of them together before the night was over. It was a bit chilly for their wedding the first weekend in May but thankfully the snow finally made it’s grand exit the week before ushering in the start of spring and giving us some beautiful green grass for the ceremony outside (even captured some with the horses in the field behind them during the ceremony). We had such a great time working with Katie & Tyler! I love the pics we got of the two of them in between the trees lining the drive up to the mansion- gorgeous! Cydney from Stiletto Events did an amazing job as always with the wedding planning- so glad we’ll be working with her a lot this year! I had a hard time narrowing down which pictures to share but here’s some of our favorite images from the day!

Heather + Peter: Mexico Destination Wedding at The Royal Playa del Carmen

I realize we’re posting a few more pictures this time than usual but it’s not everyday we get the chance to photograph a wedding on the beach in Mexico. While I LOVE living in Colorado and feel very blessed to capture photos for people here in our beautiful state, it’s a pretty awesome experience when you get to work with a couple who flies you to another location to photograph their wedding and who could possibly say no to the beach?! Heather and I went to high school together years ago but it was through Cydney that her and Peter got connected with us. We can’t thank Cydney enough for passing them our way and this opportunity. Heather and Peter are such a sweet couple and we had the most amazing time working with them. In fact I don’t know if I could really even call it “work” at all- it was way too much fun and talk about the ideal “office”! Their wedding was held at The Royal Playa del Carmen where we stayed for a few days leading up to the wedding and I have to say that between our experience at the resort itself and the attention they put into the wedding that I would highly recommend them. Neither Michelle nor I wanted to leave when it came time to go back home 🙁 . Heather and Peter we are so grateful for the opportunity and we’re so happy we got to work with you! We wish you guys a world of happiness!

Jess + Brenden: Wedding at The Curtis

We couldn’t have ended our 2012 wedding season any better! Our last wedding of the year was with Jess & Brenden at The Curtis Hotel the final weekend of September. This year we photographed at several places that displayed the beautiful Colorado outdoors (which I LOVE) but it was nice to change things up this time around and use some of the cool urban architecture found in Denver. Their wedding was a little later in the evening and to make it easier on their guests they chose to see each other before the ceremony for most of the pictures. I’m so glad they did too because it gave us a lot of time to get some great photos for the two of them. I love getting to do “first look” sessions with the couple to capture their reaction of seeing each other for the first time. Jess and Brenden are such a laid-back couple and so easy to photograph and we couldn’t have asked for a better end to the year than with these guys. I have to say we were very impressed as well with The Curtis Hotel. It’s amazing how much lighting can change the entire atmosphere of a room and the reception lighting was gorgeous! It made for some of my favorite reception photos ever. And since my brother is a friend of Brenden’s and was an usher in the wedding I just had to include a few of him doing his thing on the dance floor being his usual goofy self. Here’s some of our favorite images from their wedding. Congrats Jess & Brenden and thank you for allowing us to capture this day for you!
