The Gall Family: Wonderland Lake Family Portraits

Fall is my favorite time to photograph and especially for family portraits- the warm colors this time of year can’t be beat. Last weekend we headed up to Boulder to meet the Gall family at a location we hadn’t been before, Wonderland Park. I’m so glad we were able to take advantage of the last of the leaves and the perfect weather that afternoon. This was actually our second time working with the Gall family. We had the pleasure of working with them back in 2010 when Sawyer was just a little guy and since then they’ve added another adorable little boy to their family, Avery. The boys actually did really well that afternoon and I love the reaction we got from them while throwing pebbles into the lake and playing with the leaves. We had a really good time getting to take these pictures for them. They have such a cute family and it was so cool to see how well Sawyer is doing and growing since the last time we saw him. Sara and Trent thank you for inviting us to capture these for you!

Ashlyn + Tyler Winter Park Wedding: The Lodge at Sunspot

Labor Day weekend marked the end of our 2013 wedding season with Ashlyn + Tyler’s wedding in Winter Park. Our season ended much like  it began- with a destination wedding. Yes the wedding was right here in Colorado, but for the couple and their guests it was a little ways to get here. Ashlyn + Tyler are Texas natives and met while on a ski/snowboard trip here so when it came to planning their big day, the Colorado mountains were the perfect choice. Of course in typical Colorado fashion- particularly Colorado MOUNTAIN fashion- the weather decided to have a bit of an identity crisis the day of the wedding. It rained on and off most of the day but I’m so glad they agreed to keep the ceremony outdoors using the umbrellas for their guests. Fortunately the rain did stop shortly after they said “I do” and we were able to get some beautiful pictures outside with the mountain backdrop. Even though they were freezing they were such great sports and pushed through chattering teeth and all 🙂 They opted to do a first look before the ceremony and the emotion in that moment could be felt all the way to the other side of the camera. We can’t thank Cydney from Stiletto Events enough for recommending them our way and like usual she outdid herself with all the gorgeous details and planning that went into their wedding. Congrats Ashlyn + Tyler and thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day!!

Aubrey + Cameron: Wedding at Castle Cliff Estate

What I love most about running a photography business is the people we’ve met over the years. Folks that either because of our vocations, age differences or any number of other reasons, we never would have met otherwise. To say that Aubrey & Cameron are an amazing couple would be a huge understatement. From the moment we were introduced we knew we were going to LOVE working with these guys. Of course they are one of the most adorable couples you could ever meet but on top of that they are super sweet just like all their family and friends! They were married two weeks ago at a new venue in Sedalia- Castle Cliff Estate. The location is absolutely gorgeous! And if the site itself wasn’t pretty enough the amazing and talented Cydney Johnson of Stiletto Events and Oakes Fields Florist made it even more beautiful with all the details that went into their wedding. Did I mention details?!? Aubrey’s dad MADE the arbor they stood under for the ceremony and that custom cake topper from Kelley Kakes– I want to get married again just to have one made for us 🙂 You might remember that these are the two who mountain bike & dirt bike- both of which are part of my life’s obsession. Of course when they mentioned they had custom dirt bike jerseys for all the groomsmen I was only too happy to add that to the day’s photos. Oh and I cannot forget to mention the coolest get away car ever- a Lamborghini! It was a surprise from Aubrey and the family and Cameron’s reaction was priceless! I could go on and on and on about this wedding but there’s way too many pictures to share so pull up a chair because this post is going to be long 🙂 Congrats Aubrey + Cameron and may God Bless your marriage!!!! We are so happy you chose us to capture this day for you!

Idledale Family Portraits: Kooi + Wyant Family

Back in high school I would have never thought that some day I would be photographing some of my classmates FAMILY’S, and cute ones at that. I’ve known Morgan and Andrea since high school and it was so awesome to catch up with them and photograph their families. It’s amazing how time flies after high school and to see that we all had families of our own. We meet at Lair O’ the Bear and once again it did not disappoint, it was gorgeous and we had perfect weather. And with the sketchy weather forecasts we’ve been getting lately we didn’t know if it might pour rain on us or not. The only snag of the day was when Andrea put down her purse in a field and we didn’t realize until the end of the shoot, but low and behold some nice colorado hikers said they had seen it and told us exactly where to look, purse saved! The kids were such little angels and had some of the best posers (future models perhaps?) and the husbands..well they were too. Great people, cute kids and no lost purses makes for some great photos, Enjoy!

Meghan + Kellen: Grant-Humphreys Mansion Wedding

We’ve had a busy couple of weeks of sessions and a wedding so now catching up on all the editing! Meghan & Kellen were married last Wednesday on July 3rd at the Grant-Humphreys Mansion in Denver. It was a beautiful wedding and Grant-Humphreys is an incredible venue. They had a late ceremony just before sunset so they opted for a “first look” session beforehand and we were able to get all the pictures done allowing them to just enjoy the rest of the night after they said “I do”. We LOVE getting to do these sessions and it worked out perfect for Meghan & Kellen since the cloud cover came in right before sunset and we would have missed out on all the gorgeous shots we got of the two of them and their bridal party in the sunlight! I don’t think we could have asked for better weather in July- after last year’s summer we were afraid it was going to be over 100 degrees but fortunately we weren’t even close. We had so much fun photographing their day and  Meghan even sang for Kellen during their reception (she has an A-MAZING voice!) Of course I can’t forget to mention the live band they had at their reception the Delta Sonics. Live bands are probably one of my favorite things at weddings and these guys are so talented- if you are considering a band and like the Blues totally check these guys out! Thanks Meghan & Kellen for letting us capture your special today- congrats guys!!

The Leonard Family: Larkspur Family Portraits

I’m really excited to share this session from last week with the Leonard family. We’ve known these guys for almost 10 years now but hadn’t seen them since their daughter Lexi was right about the age of their little boy Reese- way too long! Michelle and Jennifer worked together years ago, Jennifer was our most awesome real estate agent who helped us buy our first house, and we had the pleasure of photographing this cute couple’s wedding back in 2007! Now they have the most adorable family! After having to reschedule our original session due to weather, last week we met these guys down at Dawson Butte open space just south of Castle Rock. Michelle and I love going for walks and after spending an afternoon at Dawson Butte last month we couldn’t believe we lived so close to such a beautiful location and how perfect it would be for pictures. The original plan was for a mini session but since we were having too much fun and the kids were holding up we had to get a few extra pics 🙂 Here’s some of our favorites from the day!

Meghan + Kellen: Lair O’ the Bear Engagements

A couple years back I reconnected with Meghan (after we went to high school together several years ago) to take some images of her for her band Murphy and the Claytones. We had so much fun taking those photos and so I was really excited when she contacted me to say she was getting married! When we met up to talk about the wedding details and meet her fiance Kellen I knew instantly we were going to have an awesome time taking photos for these two. Right off the bat it was as if I’d known Kellen for years. He’s hilarious and so easy going- I don’t think you could ever have a dull moment with him around! And he keeps Meghan laughing and smiling which is even cooler! They really wanted a “Colorado outdoors” look for the pictures (without a lot of hiking 😉 ) so Lair O’ the Bear was the perfect choice. The colors and scenery were perfect up there since spring arrived just a bit late. Loved that we didn’t have to deal with any bugs either- although we did find a small gardner snake along the path when walking back from the open field. We had such a great time and could have photographed for hours with these two- so excited for their wedding less than a month away!
