The Wiesner Family: Castle Pines Family Portraits

I’m a little behind on blogging between both Michelle and I being sick and then being out of the office trying to get in our last sessions before the fall colors completely left for the season. I’m really excited to blog this session because of how much we enjoyed getting to take the photos for the Wiesner Family. Thank you again to Cydney from Stiletto Events for introducing us to this wonderful family. Back in September we got the chance to work with them for Christy + Matt’s wedding that was held at their property. This time around we headed to their home for a family portrait session. The sun was playing a few games with us that afternoon and couldn’t make up it’s mind whether to go behind the clouds or shine but that’s Colorado for you! Besides that and a little bit of wind we were able to catch the last of the fall colors and had a beautiful afternoon for pictures. It was so much fun getting to work with all of them again. The session also included one of Shelly’s sisters and her family so we were able to get several photos with all of them together and of the cousins. Sometimes photographing larger families can be a challenge but they made it so easy! Here are a few of our favorites from the day- enjoy!

The Cooley Family: Fall Family Portraits

With today being Halloween I figured this session was only fitting. This is probably one of my very favorite family sessions we’ve photographed to date. What’s better than costumes for a photoshoot?! Krista is a very talented photographer and I have to say it’s a little intimidating to be asked to photograph for a fellow photographer but at the same time the ultimate compliment! We met a few years back at a workshop and I really enjoyed getting to know her over those few days. When she contacted us for a family session to celebrate her and her husband Jeff’s 10 year anniversary I was so excited to hear the ideas she had planned. This was not your typical family session. Since it was for a big occasion they wanted to dress in formal attire and with it being October then include a few with their Halloween costumes. We had such a great time with the Cooley family- the kids are adorable and I couldn’t help but laugh while taking pictures of them in their awesome costumes! The session was shot over two days since midway through our original shoot at the South Platte Reservoir the wind and rain came in blowing like crazy! They had a really cool old Mustang that we were able to capture a couple pictures next to right as the rain & wind really picked up. We hid under the bridge for a few final shots and then decided we’d finish another day down at my new favorite spot in Castle Rock. Fortunately the weather was beautiful for the second day! Thanks guys for two very fun afternoons and congrats on 10 years!!

The Fox Family: Castle Rock Family Portraits

Moving to Castle Rock has been a big reminder that we live in a beautiful state we often take for granted. We love to walk trails and so of course had to find some new places to explore after moving down here. Over and over we drove by a trail whose parking lot was always packed and we were curious what the deal was. While it’s a beautiful place to walk we couldn’t believe we found a new place to photograph that was so close to home. We knew it would be perfect for family portraits in particular so we recommended it to our friends and one of our very favorite families- the Foxes. The weather couldn’t have been nicer the last weekend in September when we took these pictures. We absolutely love these guys and are so glad God brought them into our lives back in 2009. Little Ethan “E” is getting so big! It’s exciting to see him grow and now be able to walk and run. It’s crazy to think back just about a year and a half ago we were taking maternity pics for them. Like always we had a wonderful time with them and have been anxiously awaiting sharing these pictures. Here’s just a glimpse into our afternoon.

Jess + Brenden: Wedding at The Curtis

We couldn’t have ended our 2012 wedding season any better! Our last wedding of the year was with Jess & Brenden at The Curtis Hotel the final weekend of September. This year we photographed at several places that displayed the beautiful Colorado outdoors (which I LOVE) but it was nice to change things up this time around and use some of the cool urban architecture found in Denver. Their wedding was a little later in the evening and to make it easier on their guests they chose to see each other before the ceremony for most of the pictures. I’m so glad they did too because it gave us a lot of time to get some great photos for the two of them. I love getting to do “first look” sessions with the couple to capture their reaction of seeing each other for the first time. Jess and Brenden are such a laid-back couple and so easy to photograph and we couldn’t have asked for a better end to the year than with these guys. I have to say we were very impressed as well with The Curtis Hotel. It’s amazing how much lighting can change the entire atmosphere of a room and the reception lighting was gorgeous! It made for some of my favorite reception photos ever. And since my brother is a friend of Brenden’s and was an usher in the wedding I just had to include a few of him doing his thing on the dance floor being his usual goofy self. Here’s some of our favorite images from their wedding. Congrats Jess & Brenden and thank you for allowing us to capture this day for you!

Christy + Matt: Wedding in Castle Pines

With the unofficial end of summer over Labor Day weekend, it’s the start of a busy fall season with lots of sessions to capture what I believe to be the most beautiful time of the year in Colorado. The fall season kicked off with Christy & Matt’s wedding the first Saturday of September. We have to send a big THANK YOU to Cydney from Stiletto Events for bringing us this cute couple and to Shelly & Dan who hosted the wedding on their gorgeous property in Castle Pines. It was also nice to have such a short drive from our new house to the wedding that day! Cydney did a fabulous job both in planning and with all the decorations for the wedding (no wonder she just earned the honor of 1st Place from the Denver’s A-List this year). I had to include a few extra pictures to share the details that went into the day. They held the ceremony shortly before sunset so immediately after we took the family portraits we caught the last of the sun setting behind the mountains and got the most gorgeous light!! I just love the images we got of Christy & Matt in the sunset. During the reception they opted to go without a tent and instead filled the property with little lights from the ground to the trees which created a very romantic atmosphere that was a lot of fun to photograph. We had a great time and wish Christy & Matt the best. Here’s some of our favorites- enjoy!
