Bramwell + Bloomquist Family Portraits: Elk Meadow Park

Usually a few times of year we get the chance to photograph an extended family session. It’s a great way to get pictures of families including the grandparents and we always enjoy capturing these pictures for people. Two weeks ago we met the Bramwell/Bloomquist Family up at Elk Meadow Park in Evergreen. They are friends of the Leonard Family (in fact Ryan was the best man in their wedding all those years ago) so we were excited to get a chance to work with them. Jana and Ryan have a 16 month old named Gunnar who is a little cutie even if he wasn’t quite sure about having his picture taken. He probably thought we were all a little crazy trying to get him to smile but we managed a few :-)Since the day was fairly overcast we didn’t have to compete with the sun to get clear views of the mountains which made for a beautiful backdrop. Of course so did the changing aspen trees at nearby Elk Meadow Dog Park- not something we get to capture too often! We very much enjoyed getting to meet their families that afternoon- here’s some of our favorites.

The Rothe Family Portraits: Lair O’ the Bear

My favorite time of year is finally here and as always fall makes a perfect backdrop for pictures! The end of September we met up with the Rothe family at one of our favorite locations- Lair O’ the Bear. It’s hard to believe it has been 8 years since we originally photographed Angela + Robert’s engagement session the fall of 2008! While we have loved the new opportunities we’ve had since leaving wedding photography 2 years ago we will always be grateful for the wonderful people we met during those wedding years- especially couples like Angela and Robert! We had such a great time working with them all those years ago for their engagements and wedding and were so excited when we heard from them about photographing their family this fall. 2 1/2 years ago they were blessed with an adorable little boy who is not only adorable but has the cutest personality on top of it! Harrison loved getting to see his picture on the back of the camera- even if it was before you actually took the picture haha:-)We had so much fun seeing them again and getting to photograph their beautiful family! They even brought along their doggie Mischa who was so good for the entire session- love the pictures of her and Harrison together. It was such a pleasure getting to work with them again and meet Harrison. Here’s some of our favorites from the day!

Sydney: Denver Senior Portraits

Sometimes it feels like the older we get the faster the years seem to go by so looking back 6 years doesn’t REALLY feel like it was that long ago. Even when Heather contacted us about photographing her daughter Sydney’s senior pictures we didn’t quite realize just how much 6 years really can make a difference. When we photographed Heather + Don’s wedding back in 2010, Sydney was about 11. For their engagement session we included their families so we had a little more time to get to know everyone outside of the wedding. Obviously it’s been several years since that time so the kids would have changed, but for some reason in the back of our minds we were only expecting a “slightly” older Sydney. Had her mom not been there we would have completely missed recognizing her! Sydney is a senior this year at Regis Jesuit and we can’t believe how much she’s grown up. She looks so much like her mom now- beautiful! We met up with the two of them over Labor Day weekend near Union Station downtown. We haven’t spent much time photographing at urban locations the past few years so it was a fun change and the location was perfect for Sydney’s personality- a little “sassy” as her mom put it 😉 . While the school’s yearbook doesn’t allow for outside photographers for the student’s “official” senior portrait, they do give them a space to submit some of their own photos and I think we got plenty for Sydney to choose from! We could have photographed all evening with her- Sydney is not camera shy one bit and was up for anything. We had so much fun that afternoon and are excited to share some of our favorites. Here’s a sneak peek from our day- enjoy!

The Johnson Family: Littleton Family Portraits

Our session with the Johnson Family was back at the beginning of August but we waited just a bit to put them up on the blog as they had a small announcement they wanted to share with their family first…. They are expecting baby #3 next March! Come spring the twins Avery and Roman will have a little brother or sister. We’re so happy for Cydney and Kiel! So many changes in the past 5 years since we photographed their wedding at The Manor House. And since that location holds such special memories for them it was the perfect backdrop for their family session. The day started out a little rough particularly for Roman who just wasn’t into having his picture taken that day. Although he’s adorable even with his pouty face:-)The twins are just a little over a year and a half which can be a more difficult age for kids- particularly twins. Cydney and Kiel just took the whole thing in stride though- poking fun at the situation with their own fake crying moment we photographed so they could laugh at later. But the day wasn’t all tears and we got some cute smiles and laughs from both the twins before the day was done. They are cuties! Here’s our favorites from the day- enjoy!

Abby: Chatfield High School Senior Portraits

I met Katie (Abby’s mom) earlier this summer on my flight out of Denver to photograph a rocket launch at Cape Canaveral. They were headed to look at some colleges for Abby and we started up a conversation that eventually led to the opportunity to photograph Abby’s senior pictures. The third week of July our first attempt for Abby’s senior portraits didn’t exactly go as planned. The light drizzle that started shortly into our session became a full out rainstorm and wasn’t about to let up anytime soon. We called it a day and tried again a week later- this time the weather was perfect. Abby runs both cross country and track (she also swims) for Chatfield High School so she brought along her running gear for a few portraits and some “action” shots. She probably didn’t think she was going to get in that much of a work out while taking her senior pictures! Getting the perfect settings to catch a non-blurry “still” of her running was a bit of a challenge because she’s definitely got some speed! It’s obvious that Abby is beautiful and photogenic but she’s got such a sweet personality as well and from the looks of it- is a very talented runner. We had such a good time getting to work with both Abby and Katie and feel very blessed to have met them! We had so many good pictures that it was difficult narrowing down which ones to share but here’s some of our favorites. Enjoy!

The Brunner Family: Golden Colorado

While we never made a huge announcement, in 2014 we did transition out of wedding photography and began only photographing portrait work. It was a big change for us after almost 10 years of focusing mostly on weddings but one that we are glad we made. It’s allowed us to get to work with so many of our past clients whose lives also moved on past the wedding and into starting families. In 2009 we had the pleasure of photographing Alyssa + Matt’s wedding in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It will always be one of the most memorable and best weddings we ever had the opportunity to photograph! Fast forward almost 7 years later and these two lovebirds now have a beautiful little family:-)We met the Brunners up in Golden about 2 weeks back and it was so great getting to see them again and meet their 2 boys. Their oldest Cole is almost 3- that age where you wish you could bottle up and share just an ounce of the energy they seem to never run out of. He and his little brother Landon are such little cuties! We had a great time with them that afternoon and are so happy for them! Here’s a sneak peek from their session- enjoy!

The Arnoldy Family: Lair O’ the Bear

A couple weeks back we had the opportunity to photograph the Arnoldy family up at Lair O’ the Bear. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer afternoon and after weeks of trying to work around the snow to capture the look of spring it was so great finally getting to meet them! It was such an odd spring this year but up in Idledale things were a little slower so we were able to catch some flowers in the field and even a few blossoms on the trees. They are friends of the Brandle family who we had the pleasure of photographing last year and we are so grateful for the chance to photograph their family this time:-)They have three cute kiddos who made for a very fun session! Emerson is just getting the hang of this whole walking thing and was ready to go go go! The twins Noah & Mia are 5 and seem to have some good healthy competition with one another. I’m sure having twins has it’s challenges but it was fun watching these two:-)We had a great time with them and got so many cute pictures we’re excited to get to share! Annie & Eric it was so great meeting your family!
